Pedro is a very hardworking and motivated student who has made a very positive contribution to the school community and will not be easily replaced. For the past two years he has been ​Project Leader for the production, photography and content of the school yearbook where he has consistently demonstrated outstanding organisational skills. He also has a clear passion for music technology which he also exercises regularly outside of school. He DJs regularly and has undertaken audio director roles at different concerts and shows across the Middle East and Portugal.

Within school, he has developed his understanding of the principles of Music Technology and as a result, is confident in functional and creative scenarios in the studio. This was evident in his distinction level work in the Sequencing Systems and Techniques unit where he manipulated MIDI and audio stems to create a sophisticated remix. He has also shown assurance with recording, by immersing himself within the school studio and also spending much studio time at a recording suite away from the school campus. These experiences have allowed him to understand the various configurations of microphone and mixing techniques and as a result, formulate his own interpretations and portray his own individuality into his projects. Pedro has a particular passion for live sound. Within the Marketing and Promotion in the Music Industry unit, he was in charge of sound for the whole live event and has also been keen to assist in school concerts that are held throughout the year.

During the collaborative K-Factor Talent Show project held at school, he drew upon his prior work experience to show his understanding of event management and marketing techniques. He used his initiative to create a marketing plan, and also showed that he was able to be positive and flexible as the situation demanded. Pedro showed perseverance during the Listening Skills Unit, and was willing to practise and persist in an area which he did not find easy. He is able to make basic musical analyses with a degree of proficiency, and can comment critically on music and recordings that he hears. It is clear that Pedro has an unrivaled passion for Music Technology with a work ethic and willingness to learn that is second to none.

Pedro has also been one of the most successful students in this year’s Business BTEC cohort. He has a relentless and constant drive to perform to the best of his ability and was integral to the successful showcase of this year’s talent show production as part of his Event Management unit. Here, Pedro proved himself a born leader, who is able to take ownership in business settings whilst taking into consideration the views of others. He has excelled in Business Communications and has used his talents in Music Production to create outstanding pieces of coursework. He has also demonstrated strong analytical skills when examining the use of communication in the business world. Pedro is confidently able to create links between theories we have explored in lessons and the real world.

All teachers agree that Pedro has been a pleasure to teach and firmly believe that he will excel in any university setting as a result of his hard-working and committed nature, his impressive subject knowledge and his ability to produce assignments of a high quality.
